I Saw You

What sorrow, that it has come to this.  It’s more than I can bear and so far from anything I had imagined.

For I had seen my future in your eyes.  A glistening diamond in a distant light.  I tried to run to it.  To immerse myself in its radiant glow.  Yet, I moved ponderously, tripped on my own feet, and a diamond turned to dust right before my eyes.

When I looked at you, I saw your soul in your eyes.  I saw the ‘you’ that you don’t let yourself see.  The ‘you’ that you don’t trust to endure.  I saw ‘you’ and it was beautiful.

Close your eyes sweet friend and see what I saw.  What you’ll find is not ephemeral.  Real love never is, don’t treat it so.  Be what you see inside, not what you’ve learned to see on the outside.  You are more than you show. You are more than you know.  Don’t miss out on being ‘you’, lest we all miss out on that joy.
